"The lack of pain is incredible!"
Barbara came into AAIM looking for help. After receiving chemotherapy, she developed neuropathy in her hands and feet. She was experiencing tingling, numbness, and loss of balance.
"I was hurting. My fingers were numb. I had the burning sensation... I couldn’t pick up ice cubes. I couldn’t cook because I could put a hot pan on my hand and not even feel it. I couldn’t even pick up knives and forks from the table.”
Many people battling cancer with chemotherapy also experience nerve damage, just like Barbara. Approximately 30-40% of cancer patients experience some form of neuropathy during or after chemotherapy treatment. Often, the hands and feet are the most affected areas. Chemotherapy attacks cancer cells, but can also cause severe damage to healthy nerves. Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN) can begin within weeks of starting treatment and can worsen as treatment continues. A high number of patients will be forced to endure the symptoms associated with CIPN for months, or even years after they’ve completed chemo.
When Barbara came for her first treatment, she instantly noticed a difference! Within a short amount of time after starting treatment, Barbara noticed her balance improved, as well as the feeling in her feet. "The lack of pain is incredible!", states Barbara. "This treatment has been comforting to me and I know it has made a change. I can't imagine what my life would be without it, if I hadn't tried it."
Dr. Brogdon uses acupuncture to increase blood flow and stimulate the body’s built-in healing mechanisms. She also uses ATP Resonance BioTherapy™, a non-invasive, painless treatment that assists in expediting recovery and healing using low-level electrical current.
AAIM helped Barbara change her outlook on the future. "I think in a lot of ways it's changed my mindset on what is to come. I'll face that when it happens, but I'll face it with Dr. Brogdon and the needles."
